’Thunderbolts*’ Lights Up Ryan Reynolds’ Notorious 25% Superhero Bomb at Domestic Box Office

The second weekend of the summer movie season saw little drama, with last week’s Thunderbolts* retaining its top spot on the domestic box office charts. The Marvel superhero movie had a solid debut, grossing $74 million in its first three days of release. In its sophomore frame, the positively-received film registered an encouragingly strong hold, dropping by under 55%. Thunderbolts*grossed an estimated $33 million this weekend, taking its running domestic total to just under $130 million in 10 days of release. It’ll face its first real competition next week, with the release of Final Destination: Bloodlines.
