Lewis Pullman reflects on whether Thunderbolts*’ Sentry would beat Superman
In an interview with ComicBook.com, Lewis Pullman addressed whether his Thunderbolts* character, Sentry, could take on Superman, Homelander, or Omni-Man. “Against Superman, Homelander, and Omni-Man? Jeez, you know, I think he would have to tap out for some therapy,” Pullman said. He added, “I think he feels like he has some impostors that to be like, sorry, can we pause this for one second? I’m just gonna call my guy.”
Pullman then offered a more cryptic follow-up, stating, “But give him a couple of years.” This sparked speculation about Sentry’s potential growth within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Sentry, also known as Bob Reynolds, struggles with mental instability and the dark alter ego Void, making his internal battles as formidable as any external foe.
Thunderbolts* introduces Sentry to the MCU, with Lewis Pullman portraying the character. Jake Schreier directs the film, which stars Sebastian Stan, Florence Pugh, David Harbour, Wyatt Russell, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus.
Marvel based the film’s storyline on the Thunderbolts comics, where a group of villains assume heroic identities. In the MCU adaptation, the team features Yelena Belova, Bucky Barnes, Red Guardian, Ghost, Taskmaster, and John Walker, under the leadership of Valentina Allegra de Fontaine.
Pullman’s comments fueled early buzz for Thunderbolts*, which hits theaters on May 2, 2025. Marvel plans to use Sentry in future MCU titles, including Avengers: Doomsday, hinting at a larger arc that could lead to showdowns with other powerful characters.
