Former UFC fighter Brendan Schaub appears to be making headlines recently. A known podcast host, a former MMA fighter, and a pretty well-known online analyst of the sport, nobody expected the former heavyweight fighter to be engaging in a heated conversation with the official of a Little League game. Schaub recently took up the mantle of coach for a Little League team, but was reportedly thrown out of the premises after getting heated with an umpire.
So, the initial report shared by Full Send MMA claimed Brendan Schaub was ejected from a game after arguing with an umpire, with a video from that incident. But the former UFC fighter decided to share the story behind the whole altercation. He claims that it all started because his son was playing as a batter, and as he tried to run from one base to the other after hitting the ball, he was wrongfully called out by the umpire.
“I’m not trying to be any sort of factor in the game, you know, or cause any issues. I’m just really there for my son and the team. That’s it. It’s very rare. I get along with everybody, the other coaches, I know everybody,” Brendan Schaub stated on his YouTube channel. “And then, my son slid into home, clearly safe. The thing that this Full Send MMA edited, you don’t see the full play. But not only he’s safe, he slides over the base and the catcher doesn’t tag him.”
It was then that Brendan Schaub spoke up and protested the umpire’s call. While contesting the decision, the former UFC fighter rubbed the official the wrong way with certain choice words. The umpire took those words as a ‘personal’ attack, leading to him getting ousted from the premises of the game.
“It’s not even a questionable call. It’s clearly, I mean, night and day. Even the other team was like, ‘Dude, that’s bad’… So, I go, ‘C’mon, dude. You’ve got to be fair. It’s been all game.’ I go, ‘That’s a garbage call,'” Brendan Schaub added. “He goes, ‘What? That’s personal. You made it personal. You’re out.’ I’m like, ‘Whoa! Are you serious?’ You can see me talking [in the video]. I go, ‘You serious, dude? For that? Oh, come on, dude. That’s soft s–t.’ And that’s when he freaked out.”
Well, that’s one side of the story, so we can’t be totally sure if this is what the fuss was about at the Little League game. But there are more incidents where Brendan Schaub has been involved in, like his beef with Nate Diaz, and his infamous feud with Dana White. In fact, there was an instance when almost got into a scuffle seven years ago when he attended the Golden Globes.
Brendan Schaub almost got into an altercation at the Golden Globes
During an episode of The Fighter and The Kid podcast, Brendan Schaub revealed to his co-host, Bryan Callen, about the 2018 Golden Globes event, where the former UFC fighter attended as a guest. It all started when he was trying to get into an elevator. According to Schaub himself, the area near the elevator was packed, and everyone, including him, had waited almost an hour to get in. In his defense, Schaub had a suit on, and it was getting pretty uncomfortable.
He wanted to get to his room upstairs, but then came a man—a pretty disrespectful one, according to ‘Bapa’—yelling out that he had to wait for so long. The disrespectful attitude almost got the man into trouble as he misbehaved with the elevator attendant and even sounded off at the security guards. Meanwhile, Brendan Schaub tried to be the voice of reason, and fortunately, things did not escalate any further as the former UFC fighter decided not to get physical.
“She [the assistant] was like, ‘No, no, no.’ She’s like rushing through… so we get to the front. Some guy goes, ‘The f—, man? I’ve been waiting 45 minutes’… We get on the elevator and the guy gets on… I don’t say anything. And the girl’s like, ‘Sir, we need to get more talent on.’ He goes, ‘No. f— you,'” Brendan Schaub stated. “And then the security was with me… [They told the man], ‘Hold on. You apologize to her right now.’ The guy goes. f— you’… They start squaring off… I set my stuff down… I went, ‘Fellas, fellas, come on, man… Let’s not get crazy’… I’m not gonna do s–t.”
Well, while that situation didn’t seem like he had any part in, the Little League game incident does show Brendan Schaub’s involvement. But do you believe he is telling the truth about the whole situation? Drop your comments below.
