The 23-year-old driver and two passengers, aged 19 and 21, died at the scene on Cotgrave Road at around 11pm last night.
Two other men in another car, the driver and passenger, have been arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving.
The 26-year-old driver of the second car was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Sergeant Mark Baker said a ‘thorough investigation’ was being carried out.
He added: ‘Three men have tragically lost their lives following this incident and our thoughts are with their family and friends at this incredibly difficult time.
‘The victim’s relatives have been informed and will be supported by specially-trained officers.’
