Three people have been injured in a serious incident involving a man armed with several weapons including a crossbow.

A major incident was declared in Leeds after the famous Otley Run bar crawl which is popular with students celebrating the end of term.

Police are still at the scene of the ‘ongoing serious incident’ in Otley Road after being alerted shortly before 3pm today following reports that a man had been seen with weapons.

Bethany Connelly said a man with a crossbow was seen in the area, adding: ‘I was at work at a nearby restaurant and some girls were sitting outside.

‘They asked if they could come in and finish what they were having because they’d seen someone with a crossbow.

‘This was all before the incident, and a few minutes later, we saw ambulances and police rushing down the roads.

‘The roads were getting blocked off, and we’d been told by police to keep everyone indoors and away from the area.

‘Police had told our head chef that one girl had been shot and was critical, and another girl had been shot and injured. Then later on, they said he’d been detained.’
