Jumping right in, it takes a lot of strong will and endurance to watch the final film in The Fast Runner Trilogy, Before Tomorrow. The Arctic survival drama shows viewers the harsh reality of being alone, dealing with loss, and facing death. All the while it masquerades as a simple tale of a grandmother and grandson left to fend for themselves. But this isn’t your run-of-the-mill survival story; it’s equally about legacy, storytelling, and how nature and history don’t care about anyone. Set in the 1840s, the film follows Ningiuq (Madeline Ivalu) and her grandson Maniq (Paul-Dylan Ivalu), who travel to an island to dry fish for their Inuit community. The pair have no idea that the world as they know it is collapsing behind them.
