In its first season, Matlock offers an exciting protagonist in Madeline "Matty" Matlock (Kathy Bates). She's a whipsmart lawyer who uses her age to trick people into doing what she wants, incredibly shrewd, and always seems to be several steps ahead of everyone around her. Yet her carefully crafted persona starts to unravel when Olympia (Skye P. Marshall) figures out her true identity in Episode 16, and Matty is forced to come clean about her real purpose behind becoming a lawyer at Jacobson Moore. Even though she is able to determine who actually hid the Wellbrexa documents that would have taken opioids off the market, there are many areas of Matty's life that are currently placing her in a tailspin. Now, someone from her family's past has popped up who could threaten their whole world in Matlock's second season.
