The Survivors: How Things End for Kieran

Netflix’s The Survivors delivered a gripping finale that raised numerous big questions, such as whether Kieran (Charlie Vickers) died in the shocking showdown. But that was not the case, as Kieran managed to come out on top after discovering what his friend, Sean (Thom Green), had done. Sean was also rightfully punished.

Does Kieran live or die in The Survivors?

Kieran had left Evelyn Bay after the mighty storm that set the course for the events of The Survivors. The storm took Kieran’s brother’s life, and their mother started blaming Kieran for the death. Despite not being the one to lead his brother to the caves on the fateful night, Kieran does not fight back and eventually departs for years.

On the same night, multiple other incidents took place, including Gabby’s (Eloise Rothfield) disappearance. The show reveals that 15 years ago, Gabby was looking for Keiran when she encountered Sean.

Sean, who knew the caves well, took her there and attempted to kiss her. When Gabby rebuffed his advances, Sean left her there alone, which led to her death. Gabby’s body remained undiscovered for years.

In the present day, as Kieran and Sean investigate the caves, Kieran finds out that Sean had also killed Bronte (Shannon Berry), after she nearly unearthed the mystery of Gabby’s disappearance. This leads to a scuffle between Kieran and Sean, which raises the question of whether Kieran was dead.

Sean’s attack on Kieran is quite vicious, and it seems like Kieran is not going to survive when he is hit on the head with a rock. However, the police arrive just in time to arrest Sean for the two murders.

Kieran’s story ends with him discovering the truth about Gabby and Bronte’s deaths and making up with his mother, Verity. He also ends up in a good place with Mia (Yerin Ha). This is no happy ending, however, only a path forward for the characters on The Survivors.

All the episodes of the Australian drama are now streaming on Netflix.
