The Sci-Fi Blockbuster That Roger Ebert Called “An Assault on the Eyes, the Ears, and the Brain” Is a Streaming Super-Hit

Among the many public feuds that Roger Ebert has stoked with negative reviews, none can come close to the one that ended with a character named Ebert being mocked for his ineptitude in 1998's Godzilla. Ebert also had memorable exchanges with Vincent Gallo over the film The Brown Bunny, and with Rob Schneider over Deuce Bigelow: European Gigolo. One of his most underrated running feuds, however, was with Michael Bay. Ebert wasn't a fan of the Transformers movies, nor did he enjoy Pearl Harbor, which he described as "a two-hour movie squeezed into three hours, about how the Japanese staged a surprise attack on an American love triangle." He was particularly ruthless about Bay's landmark sci-fi blockbuster Armageddon, which recently saw a resurgence on home video.
