Square Enix just announced that the SaGa Emerald Beyond Original Soundtrack will release on May 1st. I don’t usually cover game soundtracks as news, but there are a few instances where I make an exception. SaGa music and music from Kenji Ito in general are worth highlighting. The announcement confirms that the release in Japan will be on May 1st in a 3CD set with a few stores accepting pre-orders. I assume it will get a digital release the same day as usual, and likely be listed on Square Enix’s NA and EU storefronts as well for pre-order soon. Check out the official soundtrack site here. It will include a booklet with a discussion between composer Kenji Ito and Yohei Kobayashi who was arranging music in the soundtrack alongside music director Hidenori Iwasaki from Square Enix. Check out the cover art for the soundtrack below:
SaGa Emerald Beyond launches on April 25th worldwide on mobile, Switch, Steam, PS5, and PS4, and we’ve had new gameplay showcases over time including one featuring the localization director recently. Watch that here. SaGa Emerald Beyond is a brand-new mainline SaGa game, and the first in nearly a decade.
Pre-orders and pre-registrations are not up for the game on mobile yet, but you can wishlist SaGa Emerald Beyond on Steam here ahead of its release date. If you haven’t played a game in the series yet, read Shaun’s reviews for Romancing SaGa Minstrel Song Remastered here, Romancing SaGa 2 here, Collection of SaGa Final Fantasy Legend here, Romancing SaGa 3 here, SaGa Frontier Remastered here, and also SaGa Scarlet Grace Ambitions here if you’re curious about the mobile versions. Have you played a SaGa game before on any platform, and what do you think of SaGa Emerald Beyond so far from its new trailers and gameplay?
