The Re-Release of Tom Hanks’ 94% RT Masterpiece Soars Past Brand-New Stephen King Movie at the Box Office

Strange as it may be, there were two Ron Howard movies playing at the box office this past weekend, and the three-decade-old classic Apollo 13 ended up outperforming the brand-new, star-studded survival drama Eden. Apollo 13is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, and although the film's low-key re-release didn't generate the sort of interest that the recent 50th anniversary re-issue of Steven Spielberg's Jaws did, it delivered a better per-theater average than a bunch of new titles. It beat Eden, of course, but it also delivered a better PTA than the new Stephen King adaptation, The Long Walk.
