Blumhouse's The Purge returns in 2027 with a new multi-episode installment. Since 2013, Blumhouse has transformed a micro-budget home-invasion concept into a massive multi-million dollar global phenomenon with the Purge franchise. The underlying premise of a dystopian America where all crime is legal for twelve hours every year struck a chord with mainstream audiences, leading to a five-movie saga and a multi-season television adaptation. Across a little over a decade, the Purge franchise has evolved from suspense thrillers to action-packed slasher movies.
