The Penguin Season 2 Update Given by Colin Farrell

Colin Farrell has once again commented on the possibility of The Penguin Season 2 happening, in an update that might not leave fans too excited.

What is the latest The Penguin Season 2 update?

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter in a new profile, Farrell briefly talked about the possibility of a second season of the hit HBO series. The actor said that a second season is a “tougher hill to climb” following the shocking ending of the first season, in which Oz Cobb kills his protege Victor and firmly establishes himself as a villain.

“I certainly think it makes [a second season] more difficult,” said Farrell. “[Killing Vic] is a very hard thing to claw back from. It’s not impossible, but it’s a tougher hill to climb.”

Despite it being hard, Farrell hasn’t ever said he wouldn’t return for a second season. In February, Farrell said he didn’t not want a second season, and would be open to keep playing the character after reprising his role in the next The Batman film.

In an interview with Happy Sad Confused’s Josh Horowitz earlier this year, Matt Reeves also confirmed that he, showrunner Lauren LeFranc, Farrell, and executive producer Dylan Clark are continuing to talk about continuing Oz’s story.

“Obviously, we’re doing The Batman 2, we want to get the timing right on that,” Reeves said. “Our plan and our hope is to absolutely do another season, we just have to come up with the idea that we think is the right idea, which is what we’re working on.”

The Penguin was a smash hit for Farrell, Warner Bros. Discovery, and all involved. The series earned critical praise, and was nominated for three Golden Globe Awards, with Farrell winning Best Actor — Miniseries or Television Film for his portrayal of Oswald “Oz” Cobb.
