Some movies just stay with you no matter how many things you see, and Pan’s Labyrinth is absolutely one of them. Guillermo del Toro’s dark fantasy masterpiece has spent the last twenty years haunting viewers in the best possible way, the kind of movie that feels just as visceral as it is a vision. It’s one of those films that gets passed around in whispers. You watch it once, and bits of it stay lodged in your brain forever. Now, nearly 20 years after it first stunned audiences, the film is getting the kind of big-screen return that actually feels worthy of it.
