The Best

General Hospital:Lulu Confronts Brook Lynn

Leave it to Lulu to break into Martin’s hotel room to search for info on her own child but wind up with bombshell info on Brook Lynn’s. Lulu tricked Cody into confirming that Brook Lynn gave birth to Dante’s baby (and gave it up for adoption) and spilled all to Carly before busting into Brook Lynn’s bedroom and announcing she saw the paperwork and knows she had a son.

“A boy?” responded Brook Lynn with heartbreaking sadness. “I had a son?” Lulu got all sarcastic that she might buy her act if she hadn’t seen Martin’s notes; Brook Lynn retorted that she had a baby in San Francisco, never held him, never looked for him, and never talked to a lawyer. “Well, your mother has,” snarked Lulu. Brook Lynn looked like she’d been slapped. She quickly recovered with the argument that she wasn’t ready to be a mother back then, and if she had told Dante the truth that choice would have been taken away from her. “We both made choices,” asserted Brook Lynn, reminding Lulu of the abortion Lulu had years ago. “I’m not judging you for your choice, so don’t you dare judge me for mine.”

Amanda Setton did beautiful work in these scenes as Brook Lynn went from anger to heartache to shock that her beloved mom is at the root of this long-buried secret blowing up. Carly warned Lulu that the fallout could be devastating if she tells Dante, but the damage she’s already done to Brook Lynn and Lois could be worse.

Bold and Beautiful: Steffy’s on the Warpath

Everything Taylor warned Steffy about came true. Soon after Finn learned Luna was his daughter, he tracked her down to Bill Spencer’s where the murderer is somehow on house arrest. Finn told Luna she was his daughter and apologized for not being there for her when she was growing up — and then he went home to tell his wife about the bizarre kumbaya he just had with the woman who tried to kill her.

“Luna is horrified about everything she’s done,” defended Finn, just as Taylor predicted. He said his newfound daughter didn’t feel like it was her committing all those crimes; it felt like an out-of-body experience. It was her, snapped Steffy, reminding Finn that Luna is not his sweet little girl. Luna tried to destroy their family and is manipulating him and Bill, said Steffy, who headed over to Bill’s to ask why he let that “psychopath” into his home.

It did not go well. Steffy came face-to-face with Luna who insisted she never meant to hurt her. “You are a cold blooded murderer who is going to spend the rest of your life in prison,” spit Steffy, promising Luna she’ll never see Finn again. Cue the murderous look in Luna’s eyes…

Young and Restless: Newmans v. Abbotts Goes To 11

How many layers of animosity can you have between two warring families? At the moment we’ve got Victor Newman vs. Jack Abbott, Adam Newman vs. Billy Abbott, Nikki Newman vs. Diane Abbott, and Victor vs. Kyle Abbott (for dating Claire Newman).

The latest catalyst was Jack funding Billy’s new business, which will be in direct competition with Newman Media. “With your name on it, it’s doomed to fail,” mocked Adam as Billy outlined how Abbott Communications is going to act responsibly and focus on the truth. The scions went back and forth as Billy said he plans to use his privilege for good in the world and Adam taunted that Billy will never succeed. (Chelsea just sat there rolling her eyes as her former lovers went at it.)

Cut to Victor baiting Jack by saying his late father John would not appreciate Billy’s new venture. “The only mark your idiot brother will ever leave on this world is to sully the already tainted Abbott name,” barked Victor as their wives Nikki and Diane sniped on the side. Jack proposed they make a pact to leave Kyle and Claire’s relationship out of their battles, but Victor refused. He said no relationship between a Newman and an Abbott has ever lasted, and theirs won’t either.

That prompted Jack to confide in Diane that there’s a new wrinkle on the horizon: Summer wants Kyle back. So add Summer Newman vs. Claire Newman for Kyle Abbott to the list.

Beyond The Gates: The Press Conference from Hell

“I called this press conference to shut down this chatter,” explained Vernon Dupree to the assembled reporters as his family stood behind him. “I don’t want anyone calling my daughter crazy.”

Too late! Dani had just pulled a gun at her ex-husband’s wedding to their daughter’s best friend and it was all caught on Chelsea’s livestream and broadcast to millions of people. Vernon claimed that their family is politically active, so Dani having a gun was no big deal. The reporters weren’t buying it, prompting Anita to step up to recount the details of Bill’s sordid affair with Hayley and the hell he put Dani through. “Bill Hamilton pushed Dani over the line,” asserted Anita. Dani then took the mic and admitted this was a low point in her life but she would push through it.

Enter newlyweds Bill and Hayley. “I’d like to add a little testimony of my own,” asserted Bill. He listed Dani’s crimes, called her insane, and said he’s run out of patience. Vernon thanked the reporters for the courtesy they extend his family and dismissed them. Crisis averted? Nope. By the end of the week, Dani was in handcuffs.

The Worst

DAYS: Ava Drops The Charges

Ava was lured to Aremid by 9 year-old Rachel who wants her dad Brady back with her mom Kristen and sees Brady’s girlfriend Ava as an obstacle. Ava was held captive there for weeks by three generations of DiMeras: young Rachel, her mother Kristen, and her grandmother Rachel aka the Woman in White. Throw EJ in for fits and giggles and Ava had an iron-clad kidnapping case against the family that has tormented Salem for generations… so naturally she refused to press charges.

“Without your testimony the case falls apart!” argued Belle, adding that “three morally bankrupt criminals” would go free (again). Ava was aware, but said the threat of Child Protective Services taking young Rachel away from Brady was too great for her to proceed. Enter Kristen to taunt Ava instead of thank her, and threaten Belle with a lawsuit for wrongful imprisonment of Kristen’s mother. Ava stopped Kristen’s ramblings with a well-deserved slap but there was no stopping her nutbag mother: Granny Rachel’s first act after being released from prison was to break into Ava’s home.

The real loser here was young Rachel, though — the authorities should remove her from the DiMera home before she grows into a full-blown psycho.

B&B: Daphne Sticks Her Nose In

When did newbie Daphne become The Carter Whisperer? “I respect Carter for the man he truly is and he knows it,” she argued to Hope, Carter’s actual girlfriend.

This woman appeared out of the blue in January as a “great friend” of Steffy’s we had never seen before. Her mission was to seduce Carter and break up his relationship with Hope (which started in October and quickly inspired Carter to screw over his best friend Ridge and take over his company). Daphne, aka the most famous nose in Paris, invented a signature scent for the new Forrester company. Then she kissed Carter and taunted Hope that she knows him better than anyone after a few meetings in his office waving a perfumed scarf.

“Stay away from my man,” ordered Hope, suggesting Daphne return to Paris. Carter entered and said nothing. Perhaps he was thinking back to how much better his life was six months ago when he was… (checks notes)… dating Hope’s Aunt Katie and still had friends?
