‘The Accountant 2’ Recovers Its Reported Budget at Global Box Office

Having completed two weeks of release in theaters worldwide, The Accountant 2 has passed a major benchmark at the global box office. The action sequel has now recovered its reported budget of $80 million, but it still can't be counted as a hit. To become profitable, a movie of its size would need to gross around twice its reported price tag, which means that the ultimate goal for The Accountant 2 would be at least $150 million at the worldwide box office. But this depends on whether it actually needs to be profitable in theaters at all. Released by Amazon MGM, The Accountant 2 will truly break out when it hits home video — this is the model that the studio has been going with. Every penny that it makes in theaters is a bonus.
