There is no point in watching a great thriller if you’re not calculating all the time. You start calculating. Who has the gun? Who knows more than they are admitting? How long until somebody makes the choice that ruins everything? The room around you becomes irrelevant because the movie has quietly turned you into another nervous participant. That is the standard here. Not merely suspenseful. Not merely dark.
