One of the most influential filmmakers of his generation, Quentin Tarantino certainly doesn't mince his words when it comes to movies. For instance, he has said he could appreciate only a handful of recent films — Joe Carnahan's Netflix crime-thriller The Rip, Kevin Costner's passion project Horizon: An American Saga — Chapter 1, and Steven Spielberg's critically acclaimed box-office misfire West Side Story. Tarantino is much more passionate about older films, especially the Westerns he grew up on. Tarantino has called The Good, the Bad and the Ugly"the best-directed film in the history of cinema," while making it clear that he has a "hatred" for director John Ford. This has put Tarantino in an awkward position, because Ford worked extensively with one of his favorite Western stars, John Wayne.
