The easiest way to tell if a thriller has completely won is when somebody pauses it and the room gets annoyed. Not because a twist is coming. Not because the movie is loud. You simply do not want to be pulled out of whatever terrible situation these people have created for themselves. Every conversation feels loaded, every harmless object starts looking suspicious, and suddenly you are mentally solving problems for characters who absolutely did not ask for your help.
