It’s almost impossible for a person who has never acted to imagine how taxing mentally and physically it is being an actor. And to pull off something like Heath Ledgerdid in The Dark Knight? Unimaginable for all. Some performances become cultural shorthand. A walk, a voice, a breakfast order, even the way somebody sits in a chair starts carrying the whole character. That only happens when the acting is detailed enough to survive repeat viewings and alive enough to feel unpredictable the first time.
