Throughout history, the world has been treated to many a masterful horror movie. Even since before cinema became a true storytelling art form, filmmakers like Georges Méliès were already figuring out how effective this new medium could be at giving audiences a good scare. Moving into the 20th century and through the history of German Expressionism, horror started to really come into its own as a proper film genre.
