
A brand of popular Swiss cheese has been urgently recalled over fears it could contain deadly bacteria.
Tesco has recalled packs of 150g Le Superbe Raclette over fears it contains listeria monocytogenes, which causes the most common type of food poisoning.
Listeriosis is considered dangerous to pregnant women, newborn babies, people with a weakened immune system and people aged over 65.
Symptoms range from fever and muscle pain to septicemia and meningitis.
The Food Standards Agency said: ‘Symptoms caused by this organism can be similar to flu and include high temperature, muscle ache or pain, chills, feeling or being sick and diarrhoea.
‘However, in rare cases, the infection can be more severe, causing serious complications, such as meningitis.’
The recall only affects Tesco customers with the best before date of May 12.

Most people have none at all, or only mild lasting a few days.

‘Instead, return it to a Tesco store where a full refund will be given. No receipt is required.’
On Thursday, the agency said a ready-made lasagne by La Famiglia Rana was being recalled because some contained lobster meat, rather than beef.
A popular pasta sauce by Organico Realfoods was recalled earlier this month over fears it contains shards of glass While Morrisons recalled its own-brand sausages containing ‘small pieces of blue plastic’.
