Taylor Swift has a re-recording update for her 2017 album, Reputation. In a new letter to fans, the Grammy winner announced she has reclaimed the masters of six albums, including Reputation. The letter also answered queries regarding her re-recording quest for both Reputation and her debut album.
Before she bought back her original masters, Swift had already released re-recordings of four albums. These included Fearless, Red, Speak Now, and 1989. With ownership finally returning to her, T. Swizzle can now say, “You belong with me” to her entire music catalog.
Taylor Swift drops update about Reputation re-recording
Pop sensation Taylor Swift has finally disclosed the long-awaited re-recording update of Reputation. In her lengthy letter to Swifties, the “Dress” crooner revealed that she has not “re-recorded a quarter of it.”
Speaking of the specific album, Swift gushed, “The Reputation album was so specific to that time in my life, and I kept hitting a stopping point when I tried to remake it.” Hailed as one of her most iconic comeback albums, Reputation required “defiance”. Clearly, Tay Tay is not in the same emotional phase of her life anymore.
She explained, “All that defiance, that longing to be understood while feeling purposely misunderstood, that desperate hope, that shame-born snarl and mischief. To be perfectly honest, it’s the one album in the first 6 that I thought couldn’t be improved upon by redoing it.”
However, for fans who were specifically waiting for the vault tracks of Reputation that Swift promised as “fire,” the singer has an exciting announcement. The “Mirrorball” crooner assured, “There will be a time (if you’re into the idea) for the unreleased Vault tracks from that album to hatch.”
Meanwhile, Swift might share the re-recording of her self-titled debut album. She noted, “I’ve already completely re-recorded my entire debut album, and I really love how it sounds now.” While fans wait to know more about Tay Tay’s upcoming music project, she shared something interesting. Reputation and the debut album still “have their moments to re-emerge when the time is right.”
Above all, Swift’s letter emphasized that if she chooses to release the re-recordings in the future, it will not come from a place of “longing.” The “Cruel Summer” hitmaker said, “It will just be a celebration now.”
