Take That hint their next album could be their last in shock update on group’s future

Gary Barlow has revealed that Take That’s tenth album may well be their last as he opens up about the band’s future.

Gary Barlow, 54, Howard Donald, 57, Mark Owen, 53, Robbie Williams, 51, and Jason Orange, 54, formed in 1990 as Take That and released hit after hit that swept the nation.

35 years on from their formation, the band now comprises Gary, Howard, and Mark, who are set to release their tenth album very soon.

However, Gary teased that this could be one of their last albums as the group just enjoy releasing singles.

In an interview with The Sun, Gary said: ‘We’re all working on a new Take That record right now.

‘We all came off tour at the end of the year and said, “Right, let’s get to work.”

‘It’s been slated for next year. We just don’t want to stop, really.’

He then crucially added that albums take so long to make, and their fans are just looking for hit songs.

‘But I think we’re at the point where we don’t even really want to make an album, we just want to put singles out.

‘We’re writing, we’re recording, and when we like something, we’re just going to put it out.

‘The albums take years to make. And I often think of our fans, they want stuff now. They don’t want to wait for two years.’

The band’s last album was their ninth as a group and peaked at number one in the UK charts when it was released in November 2023.

The album included songs such as Keep Your Head Up, Windows, This Life,and Brand New Sun and claimed the biggest first-week sales for a British Act in 2023, beating Lewis Capaldi, Ed Sheeran and the Rolling Stones’ album sales.

Beautiful World, an album that was released in 2006 and remains the band’s top-selling album, ahead of Nobody Else from 1995, and Everything Changes in 1993.

Speaking about the band’s future, Gary revealed that they hoped to have a residency at Las Vegas – following in the footsteps of the likes of Adele, Celine Dion, and Britney Spears.

‘It’s so hard. It’s not happening at the moment,’ he said before adding that he isn’t losing hope – even though he admits they just haven’t cracked America.

‘Last year was a good year for us because we played lots of countries that we’d never played before.

‘But I just couldn’t get Vegas to work. It’s because we’re not big in America, that’s the reality.

‘I’d love to just do it once. Even if it’s just for three weeks.’

The singer is also about to embark on a solo tour without his Take That bandmates which kicks off in the Isle of Man on April 17 and will see Gary perform shows across the UK, ending in Thetford Forest on June 21.

The 2025 solo tour is the singer’s first in seven years away from his bandmates.

11 years since he left the band, Jason Orange’s normal career has delighted fans.

The singer has left music behind entirely and entered the property business with Celtic football legend Neil Lennon.

In contrast, when Robbie left the band in 1995, he went on to have a huge career without the group.

In 2024 the singer even released a film all about his rise to fame titled Better Man, which sees a monkey play the leading role.
