On October 7, 2025, Cygames will irrevocably change how support cards work in the Japanese version of Umamusume: Pretty Derby. It will completely scrap levels for them (meaning that SP will become useless) and instead, the card will automatically improve the moment you pull or receive a dupe.
The official website uses the SSR SPD Kitasan Black card as an example to explain the new system. Currently, the Level 45 effect for it is “Specialty Rate Up 40,” and you need to have 3LB to unlock the card enough to get it up to Level 45. However, if you have 3LB Kitasan Black but don’t level it up to 45, the “Specialty Rate Up 40” effect does not take effect. The new support card system will automatically unlock those passives when you uncap a card without you having to level it up first. Support bonuses in Team Trials will increase based on support card rarity and uncap rather than levels, as well.
Because of this change, Cygames will also scrap support points in Umamusume: Pretty Derby. All SP in your possession will convert to monies. You will also receive a refunds of monies based on how much you spent (including SP) levelling up your cards in the old system. The Jupiter Cup daily race, which is for SP right now, will instead reward you with strengthening items. The Enhance screen will also look different in the Japanese version, since Cygames will get rid of menus related to support card strengthening.
Umamusume: Pretty Derby is readily available on mobile devices and the Windows PC. The changes to the support card system will go live on October 7, 2025, and will only affect the Japanese server for now.
