Superman: James Gunn Hints Next Trailer Is Ready to Be Released

Superman (2025) writer and director, and DC Studios co-head, James Gunn, indicated in a social media post that the official trailer for the movie was ready and could soon come out. In December 2024, a teaser trailer for Superman was put out at a press screening before it was made available to the public. Notably, Gunn has mentioned that he considered none of the released clips from the movie as a trailer.

Gunn recently took to Threads to share the link to an episode of the DC Studios Showcase Official Podcast featuring Anthony Carrigan and Sara Sampaio discussing Superman. In the comment section, a fellow user of the platform asked Gunn to “blink twice” if the Superman trailer was ready. The filmmaker posted the flush-faced emoji, which was followed by the expressionless emoji. He then repeated the pattern once, indicating blinking twice and effectively confirming that the trailer was ready to be released.

As mentioned above, the teaser trailer for DCU’s Superman came out in December 2024. In April 2025, Gunn clarified in the comment section of an Instagram post, “You [the fans] haven’t even seen trailer 1.0. yet – only a teaser and a sneak peek!” He added, “I can’t wait to show you guys the trailer!” (via ScreenRant)

This means the next clip from the movie can potentially be the very first trailer of Superman, one of the most anticipated movies of 2025 and the first cinematic entry in the DC Universe (DCU). The movie will also serve as a reboot of the Superman movie series. The character Clark Kent / Superman last appeared in a solo project on the big screen in Man of Steel (2013), which featured Henry Cavill as the titular iconic superhero. In Gunn’s film, David Corenswet plays the character.

The cast also includes Rachel Brosnahan, Nicholas Hoult, and Edi Gathegi. Superman is scheduled to make its way in U.S. theaters on July 11, 2025.
