James Gunn's new DC Universe has brought us far more flawed versions of DC's superheroes to date. They will not all sound and look the same, as Superman proved — Guy Gardner's haircut is proof enough of that. Sure, Superman might save a squirrel before he stops a war, but Supergirl is not happy-go-lucky, it is not star-spangled Krypton, this is like Tyrion Lannister with god like powers such is her desire to drink, party and forget. It's a very different kind of superhero movie, and critics are just as divided over the result.
