For some the first sign of summer more hours of sunshine. For others it is blossom falling. But for us, it’s the sprouting up of sunbed wars at all-inclusive resorts across the world.

The hardy perennial entertains thousands every year as Brits rise earlier than they would if they were at home to get the best loungers by the pool.

This year’s first sunbed war happened at a resort in Lanzarote, accompanied with the battle cry ‘you picked on the wrong person’ and threats of speaking to the manager.

A video clip filmed at the Hyde Park Lane hotel caught a woman giving fellow holidaymakers a proper talking to after they took ‘her spot’.

The Scottish woman, wearing a pink pool cover-up, complained that the sunbathers had taken the spot she had been using ‘all week’ – despite reserving sunbeds not being allowed.

All the while the offending sunbather kept gesturing at the woman, telling her to ‘turn around and walk away’.

Let the sunbed wars begin! Angry 'Karen' goes berserk at holidaymakers for taking her spot An angry ?Karen? has kicked off the 2025 sunbed wars by going berserk at holidaymakers for taking her spot. The infuriated guest made her feelings known when she gave a pair of unsuspecting sunbathers an earful of abuse. The woman, wearing a pink cover up, was spotted accusing a couple of being in the spot she had been using ?all week?. Callum Lines heard the commotion while soaking in the sun by the pool. And he quickly captured the incident on camera. ?The Scottish lady said they had been using those beds all week, accusing the couple lying down of moving their items,? Callum Lines, 31, told NeedToKnow. ?Just to the left, out of shot, was a sign stating no reservation of sunbeds. ?I?m not sure this was the case though. ?The Scottish lady left to apparently seek management but they never showed up. ?I?ve always got two pence to share even when it?s probably not required, but you come away for a rest and some relaxation. ?There were plenty more available beds - all with equal sun exposure - so this really wasn?t needed.? Callum, from Leamington Spa, even got an earful himself. The woman could be heard saying: ?Don?t be cheeky, don?t be smart mouthed either. ?You don?t know who you?re talking to and you don?t know who we?re here with. ?So just keep your f**king mouth shut.? One woman wearing a black cap and bikini could be seen gesturing to the ?Karen? to walk away. The pair went back and forth as the woman in pink claimed someone had moved their beds. The dispute took place poolside at the Hyde Park Lane apartments in Lanzarote on 1 April. Callum chipped in: ?Excuse me is there somebody underneath you? ?Are you sat on someone?? The sunbathing woman said: ?Get your facts right before you start accusing people.? But the woman - dubbed a Karen - said: ?That's what I said to you.? The woman on the bed replied: ?Don't be rude, turn around and walk away.? But her poolside rival added: ?I am not being rude.? Callum added: ?Well get out her face then.? The bikini clad sunbather continued: ?Turn around and walk away.? But the Karen added: ?I'm just saying they've been sitting here all week. ?They've had to move.? The other woman responded: ?I don't care.? The man next to her pipped up and said: ?Go away.? Callum added: ?It's all on video mate, don't worry.? The Karen then said: ?Sitting here and you say you didn't move and take their stuff away.? But the woman on the sunbed added: ?But why ain't they got their names on them then. ?You come over here rude, turn around and walk away. ?You've picked on the wrong person, turn around and walk away now.? The angry lady then said: ?We're going to complain to the manager anyway.? The sunbather added: ?You go do that.? Callum then yelled: ?Karen!? She then turned on him and said: ?Don't don't be cheeky.? He replied: ?I'm not being cheeky.? She added: ?Don't get cheeky and don't get smart mouthed either. ?Because you don't know who you're talking to and you don't know who we're here with.? Callum quipped: ?Ronnie Pickering?? But she said: ?Just keep your f*cking mouth shut.? Callum added: ?Rude.? Karen?is a slang term used to refer to a predominently middle class woman who likes to complain. ‘There were plenty more available beds – all with equal sun exposure – so this really wasn’t needed.’

Callum branded the woman a ‘Karen’ as she walked away, so she instead turned her attention to him.

She ranted: ‘Don’t be cheeky, don’t be smart mouthed either.

‘You don’t know who you’re talking to and you don’t know who we’re here with.

‘So just keep your f*****g mouth shut.’
