Brooklyn’s Stay Inside, one of the better bands operating on the edge of indie and emo, recently signed to Tiny Engines, a label known for thriving at that exact genre intersection. Their first track for the label, “Monsieur Hawkweed,” dropped back in April, and they’ve got a second fresh song out today. “Super Sonic” is, per singer Chris Johns, “quite literally about me doing drugs on my sofa with someone in an attempt to manufacture some sort of emotional connection for myself.” Johns delivers a compelling vocal performance on the song, matching a catchy topline melody with one of those upbeat, elegantly brass-boosted rock arrangements Stay Inside do so well.
