Star Trek 4 Gets Promising Update from Spock Actor

Fans of J.J. Abrams’ take on the Star Trek movies have much to rejoice about as a potential Star Trek 4 film has finally received a positive update from one of the franchise’s cast members. In a recent interview, Zachary Quinto, who embodied Commander Spock in all three Star Trek movies, revealed that he remains enthusiastic about reprising his role for a fourth installment, despite the third movie coming out nine years ago.

Zachary Quinto says he would ‘love to do’ Star Trek 4

While speaking about the upcoming second season of Brilliant Minds, the 48-year-old actor noted that he is already on board to continue the dormant Star Trek film series.

“I would absolutely love to do another Star Trek movie,” Zachary Quinto told Collider’s Christina Radish. “I don’t understand why we haven’t done one yet, but hopefully now that the Skydance and Paramount merger is moving forward, Skydance was the financier of all the Star Trek movies that we’ve done so far, and have been great partners in those films, and I would love to revisit it,” he remarked while talking about the possibilities of Star Trek 4.

Quinto further explained his motivation to feature in a fourth Star Trek film by saying, “It’s been 10 years since we made the last movie, and nine years since it came out, and I do think that it would be a really wonderful way to close that chapter of the story and the characters that we’ve all come to love and come to enjoy inhabiting as much as we have.”

The Heroes alum even disclosed that he has already contacted J.J. Abrams, the director of the first two movies and producer for the third, about the prospects of Star Trek 4. “I actually just emailed J.J. this week to say, ‘Hey, this would be really exciting.’ I think fans would be really open to it and really welcome a final movie,” he said.

The Spock actor closed his account by reiterating his desire to make another Star Trek feature, stating, “I think it would be really great to do a fourth movie, and let’s make it happen.”

Despite Zachary Quinto’s encouraging words, Paramount has yet to share an official update regarding Star Trek 4.
