According to late Marvelauthor Gerry Conway, there was once internal discussion at the publisher about rebranding "comics" as...something else. The idea didn't gain any traction, but looking back on it now, it's worth considering what Stan Lee's alternative suggestion says about him, and what can be extrapolated about Marvel's perennial battle for pop culture supremacy with rival DC Comics.
