2026 has been a banner year for comic book TV shows, even if some of the best ones weren’t given a chance to continue beyond their first season. One of the first shows to dazzle the world earlier this year was Wonder Man, Marvel’s long-gestating showbiz/superhero epic starring Yahya Abdul-Mateen II and Ben Kingsley. The show was a critical hit and also earned strong viewership after being dropped as a binge back in January, and Marvel Studios even gifted Wonder Man a rare Season 2 renewal. However, a few months later, the studio went back on its word and announced that the show had been canceled after only one season. Another critically acclaimed comic book series to recently suffer the same fate was Spider-Noir, the neo-noir detective thriller starring Nicolas Cage.
