Five new comedians have officially been tapped to join the cast of the upcoming Saturday Night Live Season 51 for NBC’s long-running sketch comedy show. This casting news comes after it was recently confirmed that long-time cast members Heidi Gardner, Michael Longfellow, and Devon Walker have exited the iconic series, along with Emil Wakim. The latter had only been a cast member for one season.
Who is joining the SNL Season 51 cast?
According to THR, Ben Marshall, Tommy Brennan, Jeremy Culhane, Kam Patterson, and Veronika Slowikowska are joining as the newest featured players of SNL Season 51. Marshall, who is a member of the comedy trio Please Don’t Destroy, has served as an SNL writer since 2021. For the past seasons, he has appeared in a few sketches along with Please Don’t Destroy members John Higgins and Martin Herlihy.
In addition to Marshall’s casting as a featured player, Please Don’t Destroy’s future has also been revealed, confirming that Higgins has decided to depart the show, while Herlihy will remain as a writer. Despite this big change, the comedic trio is expected to continue working on other projects outside of SNL. Besides working on several hit sketches for SNL, the comedy group had also previously starred in 2023’s Peacock movie Please Don’t Destroy: The Treasure of Foggy Mountain, which they also wrote.
The long-running sketch comedy program hails from creator and executive producer Lorne Michaels. Saturday Night Live served as a launching pad for a number of acclaimed comedians and actors, including Bill Murray, Norm Macdonald, Eddie Murphy, Will Ferrell, Chris Rock, Adam Sandler, Chris Farley, Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Maya Rudolph, Leslie Jones, Kate McKinnon, and more.
SNL Season 51 is scheduled to premiere on October 4, 2025.
