‘Sinners’ Is Beating the Last Two ‘Avengers’ Movies By One Big Box Office Metric

Having completed nearly a month of release in theaters worldwide, Sinners has firmly established itself among the biggest horror movies ever made. It's also the year's second-biggest Hollywood film, behind A Minecraft Movie, and is now pacing ahead of two entirely unexpected blockbusters. On its fourth Wednesday of release in domestic theaters, Ryan Coogler's vampire film out-grossed both Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame's fourth Wednesday hauls. Sinners isn't performing like a summer release, but a Christmastime hit instead. Films released during the holidays tend to have longer legs, and Sinners has already generated around five times its opening weekend haul.
