Shelf Lives warm up for Lambrini Girls tour with abrasive single ‘Like Her’

Shelf Lives have shared their bold new single ‘Like Her’, ahead of their tour with Lambrini Girls. Listen below.

The London electro-bass punk duo are set to join Lambrini girls on a trek across the UK, starting on November 19 at London’s O2 Forum Kentish Town. Check out a full list of tour dates here and visit here to purchase tickets.

Ahead of the shows, the band have kicked off their new era with punk-imbued ‘Like Her’. Co-written with producer Pat Alvarez and featuring Hot Wax’s Lola Sam on bass, the track operates as an anthem for anyone who’s felt less-than in a comparison-riddled world.

“‘Like heR’ is for everyone who’s struggled to feel enough. It’s for anyone who has had their joy stolen by the comparison gremlin,” the band say of the track. “We spend so much time looking into an abyss of endless comparison that gives us infinite options for identity. It’s gotten to the point where a lot of us don’t know who we are.

“The monoculture is over, which means we are now being sold back to ourselves. We just wanted to let people know that they’re not alone.” Check it out, alongside the erratic music video, below.

Speaking to NME in 2023, guitarist and producer Jonny Hillyard described the group as: “like all the worst parts of society with ice cream in one hand, and a gun in the other.”

“You don’t have to reach far to find something hilariously wrong with society, we just say how it really is; and we’re definitely going to dive into that more lyrically,” he explained.

Meanwhile, vocalist Sabrina Di Giulio explained why the band loves to introduce an element of unpredictability in their work, “in a day and age where you literally know everything that’s coming before it comes”.

She explained: “There’s no surprise, there’s no mystery. From something as trivial as knowing what someone’s going to wear before the event, because you would have seen it on their stories, [and] everything being teased [with] social media. So it’s important to have that control to be like, ‘Well, this is still Shelf Lives because we’ve made it.’”
