Dungeon Crawler Carl fans have waited months for a major update on the long-anticipated adaptation. Now, the project has reached one of its biggest milestones yet. Following months of speculation about the future of Matt Dinniman’s bestselling LitRPG franchise, the live-action series has received a major update.

Peacock moves forward with the Dungeon Crawler Carl adaptation

Peacock has officially handed a straight-to-series order to Dungeon Crawler Carl, signaling confidence in the adaptation of Matt Dinniman’s popular book series. The announcement marks a significant development for fans who have followed the project since it was first announced.

The upcoming series is being developed by Universal Global Television in partnership with Seth MacFarlane‘s Fuzzy Door Productions. The adaptation brings together several notable creative talents, including writer and executive producer Chris Yost.

In addition to Yost, MacFarlane will executive produce the series alongside Fuzzy Door executives Erica Huggins and Rachel Hargreaves-Heald. Meanwhile, Dinniman will remain closely involved with the adaptation as a non-writing co-executive producer.

Dinniman shared the news with fans through social media. He confirmed that Peacock had officially greenlit the project. “Me, Chris Yost, and Seth MacFarlane and his team at Fuzzy Door are all really excited to get to work. In the coming weeks, I’ll have more details,” he wrote. Dinniman also revealed plans to discuss the adaptation during a dedicated Dungeon Crawler Carl panel at San Diego Comic-Con.

The series began in 2019 as a self-published project. It eventually evolved into one of the most recognizable titles in the LitRPG genre. Over the years, Dungeon Crawler Carl has built a dedicated fan base through its blend of dark comedy, action, gaming mechanics, and emotional storytelling.

The story follows Coast Guard veteran Carl after an alien invasion devastates Earth and transforms survival into a brutal intergalactic reality show. Alongside Princess Donut, a self-centered, tiara-wearing show cat, Carl must navigate deadly dungeons.

With Peacock now committed to the project and MacFarlane backing the adaptation, fans are looking forward to seeing Dungeon Crawler Carl on screen.
