Seinfeld earned a legacy as one of the most iconic and beloved sitcoms of all time over the course of nine seasons, and a lot of that success is due to the dynamic of the core four characters. Jerry Seinfeld, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Jason Alexander, and Michael Richards kept the show going strong on NBC for the better part of a decade. As it turns out, however, Seinfeld was missing one of those four at the very beginning. The original female lead was Lee Garlington, playing Claire the waitress. That spot then went to Louis-Dreyfus for every episode after the pilot.
