Ian Garry is all set to headline UFC Kansas City against Carlos Prates, but it’s another welterweight who’s been stirring the pot outside the cage—Sean Brady. Even though Brady “unfortunately” picked Garry as the winner of the Irishman’s upcoming outing, he hasn’t held back when it comes to taking jabs at the Irishman. The tension between the two welterweights began after Garry voiced his frustration about not getting a title shot despite stepping up on short notice to face Shavkat Rakhmonov at UFC 310. Garry claimed he deserved the matchup against Belal Muhammad instead of Jack Della Maddalena at UFC 315.

‘The Future’ believed that the Aussie did not deserve the shot as he is coming off a long injury layoff. For the unversed, Della Maddalena was announced as the next in line for Muhammad back in February after the Kazakh juggernaut did not accept the fight owing to an injury. As for the new title challenger, he would be returning after he broke his hand against Gilbert Burns at UFC 299. The Aussie was speculated to return at UFC 305 in his home country of Australia, but a second surgery on his hand made him sit out for an extended period.

Moreover, saving UFC 310 by stepping on short notice and that too against a killer like Rakhmonov (who had a 100% finishing rate till then), Garry felt that the UFC should have called him and not the Aussie for a shot at gold. All of this didn’t sit well with Brady. The Philly native didn’t hesitate to call out Garry’s comments in an appearance with Ariel Helwani last month, saying: “I went out there, took this opportunity…I heard he was b—–ing that he didn’t get the fight with Belal!”

Naturally, Garry didn’t stay quiet. He fired back during a recent interview on Full Send MMA, delivering a colorful rebuttal: “Joaquin Buckley barely speaks f—king English and Sean Brady looks like he’s out of Lord of the Rings, so no one gives a f—k about these guys.” And just when it seemed to cool down, Brady reignited things on social media with a sharp tweet: “Biggest claim to fame is losing a decision to Shavkat crying like a baby he didn’t get a title shot off a loss and now is claiming he will get the title “if” he beat #13 make it make sense 0 top 5 wins calls himself an elite striker but held on for dear life against MVP.”

In the latest episode of UFC Journey on ESPN MMA’s YouTube channel, the Irishman opened up about his pride in stepping up on short notice to face the dangerous Shavkat Rakhmonov. Although he entered the bout with an impressive 15-0 undefeated record, that streak came to an end with a tough loss. Garry also revealed that he had already booked a flight to Montreal to closely watch the upcoming welterweight title bout. He also confirmed that he was fully prepared to step in at UFC 315 if anything went off the rails.

Is Ian Garry ready for another short-notice fight?

Ian Garry hasn’t even stepped inside the cage to face Carlos Prates, but ‘The Future’ is already looking ahead. The Irishman is planning big, hinting that he’s ready to step in and save UFC 315 if needed. In a clip shared by Full Send MMA on Instagram, Garry confidently stated, “My flight’s already booked.” The host, clearly surprised, asked for more details. Garry didn’t hesitate: “My flight is already booked [for UFC 315]. Saturday night, Carlos Prates gets his a-s handed to him and then I’m going straight to Montreal because that belt is mine.”

Not one to hold back, Garry also brought up his past rival Neil Magny, adding: “Neil Magny, here look, there’s his soul, look. You watched that fight, right? Neil Magny’s never been the same since I took his soul. It’s right there, it’s in the bottom of my hand.” He’s never shied away from short-notice opportunities either, reminding fans that he’s stepped up before to save UFC cards.

So, with his eyes already set on Montreal and UFC 315, could Ian Garry be gearing up for another statement moment in the welterweight division?
