Scrubs struggled to survive without the presence of its leading man, despite a claim from Zach Braff years beforehand that the show's writers told him about his potential departure as Dr. John "JD" Dorian. Although he did appear in all nine seasons of Scrubs, the medical sitcom started to phase him out of the softly-rebooted Med School run. The intention was quite clearly for Scrubs to continue after Braff's exit, but it simply wasn't to be.
