‘Scared Me to Death!’: Wyndham Clark Under Fire as ‘Sick’ Action on Course Endangers Life

The intense matches on the PGA Tour have made the players take decisions that have led to regrettable aftermath. Earlier this season, Adam Hadwin, after his poor shot from the rough at the Valspar Championship, he frustrated, hit the ground with his club, which ended up hitting a sprinkler head accidentally and breaking it. In response to his action, he went into deep regret and murmured an apology instantly. He later went on the treat the ground staff with a lunch as an apology. Now at the PGA Championship, Wyndham Clark laid out his frustration in much more grevious and sick way.

The 31-year-old professional, after barely making the cut, was experiencing a downside with his performance. But what happened next was unexpected. After three rounds of 72-69-73, his frustration peaked in the final round when he bogeyed four holes consecutively in the front nine. The US Open winner, when he attempted to improve his performance and saw the result, the ball going into the bunker, he smashed his driver behind him with ferocious force into the sponsor boards.

The result of which was a hole in the board, a broken driver, and a life-threatening hit that was just a few meters away from Chris Deiulio. The volunteer, Deiulio, was standing close to the board with the flag in his hand, and as the golfer swung the club towards the board, he was barely a few meters away from the impact zone. He posted a photo on X, writing, “I’m the Marshall holding the flag. Scared me to death.” Even for his action, Tron Carter posted on X, writing, “The volunteer who Wyndham almost decapitated says he still has the driver head and shaft. Could see the PGA of America forcing him to hand them over so they can be auctioned off on “The Realest.” Says Wyndham didn’t apologize or acknowledge him. Not good!”

For his action, where he just left after throwing the driver and not apologising, polarised the golf community against him. A spree of comments started against the golfer.

In the past, there have been many frustrating moments, but the ideal way as a professional is to handle them with calmness. With Clark, it was the opposite, and the result in the comments that barged in for him.

One fan wrote, “I don’t think that one’s gonna pass inspection next week.” The action that is against the rules is being assessed by the committee. However, the penalty or the negative action is not revealed publicly to help the golfer’s identity. But there is definitely going to be a strict action against the golfer.

Others added, “Into his sponsors board is wild,” and “ has become a real d–k ever since got that F U TMobile money.” The golfer last year, before the Masters, got a new sponsor. But the golfer, after hitting the driver into the sponsor’s board, made fans speculate about his move on the course and how his performance has been affected since partnering with T-Mobile. The US Open winner of 2023 won just one event in 2024, which was before the partnership.

Though everyone in the golf community knows about the anger issue of the golfer. Even in Netflix’s ‘Full Swing’ series, his anger issue got highlighted. 

Now, with the frustration-filled action, the golfer is getting the frustration of the fans back. All the past issues of the American professional are being pulled up to create a report card of his actions. Even though the event is over, Wyndham Clark hasn’t apologised for his action.
