Sega Plaza posted an anniversary party picture for My Melody and Kuromi. Next year, there will be special goods of the two characters in Sega Plaza crane games.

2025 will mark the 50th anniversary of My Melody and the 20th anniversary of Kuromi. To commemorate this milestone, Sega Plaza will release plushes and other sorts of goods in Summer 2025. To advertise this, it posted a picture of My Melody and Kuromi holding up a cake that celebrates their respective anniversaries. The cake has strawberries on it, and they’re wearing matchy dresses with a cake pattern on the hem.

My Sweet Piano will also be part of the celebrations, with her goods appearing in Sega Plaza next year as well. She is My Melody’s best friend, debuting in 1980 as Hitsuji and becoming PIano in 2005. That means, like Kuromi, 2025 will be her 20th anniversary. It’s unknown why Sega did not include My Sweet PIano in the picture with My Melody and Kuromi.

Since her debut in 1975, My Melody has been one of the more popular Sanrio mascots. She is a rabbit who wears a red or pink hood. Kuromi exists in the same universe as My Melody as her rival and doppelganger. Her naughty personality and design made her very popular among subculture communities like the punks and goths. As a result, Kuromi appears just as often as My Melody when it comes to merchandise and collaborations.

The My Melody, Kuromi, and My Sweet Piano anniversary goods will appear in Sega Plaza from Summer 2025.
