Sam Bennett’s Future Possibilities Revealed as Florida Panthers Contract Nears End

“I always love playing here. Every time I play here, I get lots of support,”  said the 28-year-old forward, Sam Bennett. But with 22 goals this season and just 18 games left, could this be the last time Bennett plays in front of a crowd that has been a special part of his career? After all, the Panthers’ agitator-in-chief is nearing the end of his contract.

NHL insider, Elliotte Friedman joined Ron MacLean for Sportsnet’s Saturday Headlines to discuss the Panthers’ negotiations. “The word in the press box Thursday night as Florida played in Toronto was that talks have resumed between Bennett and the Panthers. Again, I don’t want to handicap it, don’t want to say one way or the other, but they are trying, and it’s been a very good marriage between player and team,” Friedman revealed. With suspense building and Bennett set to hit free agency soon, the concern is whether the Panthers can keep him on the team.
