This article contains spoilers for tonight’s Coronation Street, which has not yet aired on TV but is available to watch now on ITVX.
Roy Cropper (David Neilson) offered some heartfelt words to Julie Carp (Katy Cavanagh) in tonight’s episode, and it’s safe to say that they tugged at our heartstrings.
Viewers will know that Julie returned to Weatherfield after being diagnosed with terminal cancer, and she doesn’t have long left to live.
Recent weeks have seen her condition deteriorate, leaving her in a lot of pain.
However, determined as she was to live her final days to the full, Julie fought through the pain to go to brunch at the café with former love Brian Packham (Peter Gunn).
Unfortunately, their meal was cut short when Brian was called to the Kabin to fix some failed electrics, leaving Julie alone with Roy.
Having sensed she was in pain, Roy offered her a heated wheat sack, revealing that they helped late wife Hayley a lot when she was in pain.
Viewers will remember that Hayley died in 2014, after deciding to take her own life following her own cancer diagnosis.
Roy’s kindness set Julie off, and she burst into tears.
She confided in the café owner that she was finding it harder to carry on with life as normal, with the pain taking up so much of her brain.

To make matters worse, she told Roy that she knew she was set to be alone when she died, having missed out on the chance of finding love.
However, Roy didn’t see it that way, and was quick to point out that some of his favourite memories with Hayley occurred during her final weeks of life.
As Julie admitted that she hoped she could be as brave as Hayley, who she recalled smiling until the very end, Roy revealed that behind closed doors Hayley had found things very difficult.

When Brian later returned to the café and found that Julie had already gone, he confessed that he’d planned to ask her to be more than friends, and considered her the greatest love of his life.
Given his earlier conversation with Julie, Roy suggested that Brian tell her how he truly felt, and Brian headed over to do just that.
However, when he tried to explain how he felt to Julie, she shut him down, insisting he’d dodged a bullet by not getting back together with her.
With Brian clearly gutted by Julie’s rejection, and Julie desperate for her final chance at love, will they give in to their feelings and give things another go?
