As the Toronto Maple Leafs look to gain momentum back in their second-round series against the Florida Panthers, head coach Craig Berube is shaking things up.
Forwards Nick Robertson and David Kampf will slot into the Leafs’ lineup on Wednesday for a pivotal Game 5, taking the places of Pontus Holmberg and Calle Jarnkrok.
Toronto led the series 2-0 when action shifted to Sunrise, Fla., but lost both games on the road as Florida knotted things up at 2-2.
Now that the Maple Leafs have returned home, having already squandered an early edge, they’ll look for some fresh faces to step up.
Robertson made 69 regular-season appearances for Toronto, logging 22 points (15 goals, seven assists). He’s played in just two playoff games for the Maple Leafs this season, both against the Ottawa Senators in the first round, recording an assist in Game 1 for his lone point.
It’s worth noting that Robertson has shown production after time off this season, scoring four goals and two assists in games returning from being a healthy scratch.
Kampf totalled 13 points (five goals, eight assists) through 59 games. This will be his first post-season appearance for Toronto this year.
Action between the Atlantic Division rivals is set for 7 p.m. ET / 4 p.m. PT on Sportsnet or Sportsnet+.
