Robert Pattinson Explains Why His Batman Joining James Gunn’s DCU Could Get Tricky

Robert Pattinson has finally revealed the real reason why his Batman entering James Gunn‘s DCU might be tricky. The actor will soon return as the Caped Crusader in The Batman Part II, a sequel to Matt Reeves‘s 2022 blockbuster.

In an interview with LADbible, Pattinson talked about the complicated aspect of his Batman joining the DCU. “I think it would be kind of tough to have this version of Bruce outside of that world. It’s one of the only characters I guess because of the length of the shoots but also it’s such a specific kind of [style], the tone of it gets inside you.”

He added, “I remember that happened to me the last time I did it, it took a while. You’re just in the dark, the whole time. Both mood-wise and light-wise, I can’t see anything for like months.” Pattinson described the feeling as “strange afterwards.”

How the DCU is setting up a new Batman

Robert Pattinson may not be joining the DCU, but James Gunn’s expanding universe has plans for its own Batman. The character has been long teased to feature in a future movie, The Brave and the Bold.

But before he makes the much-awaited appearance, the caped crusader has been teased directly or indirectly in other DCU projects. The animated TV series Creature Commandos showed a glimpse of the character with a silhouette at the end.

Recently, HBO Max’s popular TV series Lanterns’ Episode 6 confirmed that Guy Gardner ripped off Batman by stealing his idea to use a light signal, similar to the Bat-signal.

Notably, the upcoming R-rated Clayface movie, led by Tom Rhys Harries, is set in Gotham City, home of Bruce Wayne. However, fans are yet to witness a proper live-action iteration of the superhero in the DCU.

Several popular names have made the rounds on the internet in the past few months to play the role in Gunn’s cinematic universe. In fact, The Westies star Tom Brittney has been heavily rumored to play the iconic role. But nothing has been officially confirmed at the moment.
