Key Takeaways:

Brevan Howard’s funds will go on to receive multi-asset prime brokerage, clearing and financing with Ripple Prime. Brevan Howard manages approximately $35 billion of assets, making Ripple one of the biggest institutional clients in traditional and digital markets. The expanded relationship comes in the wake of Brevan Howard affiliates’ $500 million strategic investment in 2025.

Brevan Howard, one of the world’s largest alternative investment managers, is the latest institutional partner to deepen Ripple’s institutional push.

The partnership will expand Brevan Howard funds to use Ripple Prime for brokerage, clearing and financing support across various asset classes, bringing another significant institutional name to Ripple’s financial infrastructure enterprise.

Ripple Prime Lands a $35 Billion Asset Manager

Brevan Howard is managing approximately USD 35 billion for institutional clients such as sovereign wealth funds, pension plans, foundations and endowments. The new deal provides its investment teams access to Ripple Prime unified infrastructure for both marketplaces, traditional and digital.

This includes services aimed at streamlining the business of trading, financing and collaterals among assets and product types.

However, Brevan Howard loves efficiency. As new overlaps in the traditional and digital markets emerge, demand for institutional-grade infrastructure that can accommodate both has risen, Group COO Alan McGroarty said.

Prime Brokerage Becomes a Bigger Part of Ripple’s Institutional Strategy

Ripple Prime offers more than just crypto-related products and amenities. It offers a variety of digital assets, foreign exchange assets, derivatives and fixed income and other products, allowing large investors to have one relationship with the exchange for multiple markets rather than multiple infrastructure for each market.

The platform also expanded into U.S. equity derivatives in 2026, including total return swaps tied to U.S.-listed stocks, indexes and digital assets. That wider range of products is in part why Ripple has aimed at a broader range of firms to include hedge funds and large asset managers and not just crypto-native trading houses.

Brevan Howard’s Ripple Relationship Started With a $500M Investment Round

The new brokerage deal comes on the back of an ongoing business partnership between the two entities. In 2025, the Brevan Howard affiliates were among the top-10 institutional investors to join Ripple for its $500 M strategic round.

That relationship has recently been extended beyond investment to the use of Ripple’s infrastructure in the latest deal. Ripple now has over 85 licenses and provides institutional payments, custody, prime brokerage and treasury management services.

XRP and RLUSD Are Not the Main Story

Brevan Howard isn’t necessarily buying the XRP or the Ripple’s stablecoin RLUSD as part of the deal, the announcement doesn’t specify. It is more about the institutionalized brokerage infrastructure as opposed to direct allocation of crypto-tokens.

Aside from that, it matters to a great extent. The agreement solidifies Ripple’s role as a financial services provider bridging traditional and digital markets, and Brevan Howard’s as a provider of a unified platform for managing trading, clearing and financing in both markets.
