Rey Skywalker's upcoming Star Wars movie, rumored to be titled Star Wars: New Jedi Order, can finally resolve a Rey problem that plagued her throughout all three movies of the Star Wars sequel trilogy. Based on Star Wars' upcoming movies and even the direction upcoming Star Wars TV shows seem to be taking, it's safe to assume Star Wars is not retconning the sequels, despite some in the fanbase continuing to call for that. Instead, it seems most likely Rey will only become more important in the franchise.
