The Green Bay Packers have lost one of their most important offensive players for the remainder of the season.
Tests confirmed Monday that tight end Tucker Kraft has a torn ACL, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported.
Kraft suffered the injury during the third quarter of Sunday’s loss to the Carolina Panthers after a collision with teammate Sean Rhyan.
The third-year tight end had six touchdown catches and 489 yards receiving in eight games this season. He headed into Sunday’s game as just the third tight end in NFL history to have at least 30 receptions, 450 yards receiving and six touchdown catches while averaging 15.5-plus yards per reception in the first seven games of a season.
“That’s a heavy blow for us,” running back Josh Jacobs said Sunday. “A lot of guys even in the locker room and even in the huddle afterward, we felt that. He’s a leader on this team. He’s a captain, and he’s one of those guys that you really love to have on your team.”
With the loss, the Packers dropped to 5-2-1 on the season. They hold a narrow lead in the NFC North over the Bears, Lions and Vikings.
