A former Toronto Blue Jays top prospect has found a new home.
Infielder Orelvis Martinez has signed a minor-league deal with the Washington Nationals for the 2026 season, according to Andrew Golden of The Washington Post.
Martinez was designated for assignment and granted free agency by the Blue Jays earlier this month.
The 23-year-old was at one time the No. 2 prospect in the Blue Jays system, but he was suspended 80 games in 2024 after testing positive for a performance-enhancing drug.
This season, Martinez struggled at the plate with triple-A Buffalo, hitting just .176/.288/.348 with 112 strikeouts in 99 games.
