The Washington Commanders could be without their most important player as they look to bounce back from a Week 2 loss to the Green Bay Packers.

Star quarterback Jayden Daniels’ status for the Week 3 matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders is in doubt after suffering a knee injury in Thursday’s 27-18 loss, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported Monday.

According to Rapoport, Daniels underwent an MRI following the loss and was diagnosed with a sprained knee. Though the injury doesn’t appear to be serious, his short-term status for Sunday’s interdivisional showdown is up in the air.

Daniels, the reigning offensive rookie of the year, completed 24 of 42 passes for 200 yards and two touchdowns, while adding 17 yards on seven rushing attempts against the Packers.

In his rookie season, he helped the Commanders to a 12-5 record — good for second in the NFC East — after throwing for 3,568 yards with 25 touchdowns and nine interceptions, while breaking the record for most QB rushing yards by a rookie with 891.

The Commanders (1-1) may have to turn to backup QB Marcus Mariota for Sunday’s showdown. The 11-year veteran made three appearances as Daniels’ backup last season, throwing for 364 yards with four touchdowns in limited snaps.
